La chèvre dans une société de chasseurs-cueilleurs-cultivateurs, l'exemple des Gbaya 'bodoé de R.C.A

Abstract : The author presents the status of the goat among the Gbaya 'bodoe, a society of hunters-gatherers-farmers living in the Central African Républic. After mentionning the vocabulary that refers to goats, she describes the way the Gbaya take care of them and explains the role played by goats in their society, underlying how important they are in the constitution of the matrimonial compensation. In the tales' universe, goats are a key element of the matrimonial compensation. They live within the boundaries of the village, which makes them the symbol of endogamy. In the imaginative world, they are a coveted food.
