La gestion du campagnol des champs : du paysage à la parcelle agricole
Résumé
The environmental changes caused by the agricultural revolution are partly responsible for the instability of common vole (Microtus arvalis) populations. The management of this vole is a significant challenge in the Grand Est region. This is why the MACC 0 project aims to gather data on population dynamics and quantify the impact of alternative methods to reduce the use of rodenticides in large-scale farming and arboriculture. The landscape analysis of the experimental sites helped to assess the risk level of outbreaks based on landscape structure and composition, while the statistical analysis of the experimental setups evaluated the effect of alternative methods on vole infestation rates in the fields. The results show a significant short-term effect of shallow soil tillage and trapping, as well as an effect of predation in maintaining lower infestation rates compared to the control plots. This study highlights the importance of an integrated management approach to address the challenges of sustainable agriculture.
