Orthographe du français : demande sociale et aménagement linguistique

Abstract : In this thesis, we address the issue of language planning of the French spelling. We propose to determine under what conditions a spelling reform can be implemented effectively. To achieve this, we have to understand the state of social demand in this area. To this end, we want to highlight the anchoring of spelling in our society. After a short historical perspective, we are brought to analyze language attitudes and practices of writers, explain social issues and identify the political interests of the norm. We want to show how the ideological system of French spelling works. Then we seek to highlight the major pragmatic and ethical issues raised by democratic language planning, to determine the best conditions for the application of a spelling reform.
