Le portage en écharpe

Abstract : The use of infant slings to carry babies has been strongly increasing those last years in France. A survey among young parents shows that they are interested in this holding method but also that they require information from medical professionnals.Scientific minded research work appears to be necessary in order to deliver satisfying information about benefits and risks involved by infant sling carrying for babies born at term. The present work is based on a bibliographical survey aiming at verifying whether infant carrying supposed benefits are scientifically based or not. The scope extends to the three following axis: parents, child and maternal-infant interaction. Few scientifical surveys have been published on this topic in comparison to what exists about preterm infants and Kangaroo holding in NICU. They however underline several assets of infant carrying. For now, medical information subject to be delivered about infant sling carrying is uncomplete and unacurate. It seems to be necessary to promote future surveys on a larger sample scale to ensure higher proof level and reliability of medical recommendations.
