Statut et lutte contre une espèce exotique envahissante : le Vison d'Amérique Neovison vison en Midi-Pyrénées

Abstract : The American mink Neovison vison, little carnivore of the weasel family (Mustelidae), is one of the many alien species deliberately introduced in France, which is currently invading the metropolitan area and causing damages to native biodiversity. Rather nocturnal with discreet customs, his exact distribution is poorly known. A first national investigation, realized in 1999, drew up the map of his distribution in Fance and identifies 3 feral populations, one of whom partly present in Midi-Pyrénées. No study was led on the precise distribution of the specie in the region. The regional investigation, extended to bordering departments, and the mappings of the colonization of the species constituting the present study come to update these data of distribution and to establish a diagnosis of the status of the American mink Midi-Pyrénées. Ours results show that the species continue actively his expansion to the South of France. A reflection on the possibilities of intervention allowed to finalize the following 3 scenarii of management and their detailed protocols : - No intervention - Control by routine and specific trapping campaigns - Monitoring and control by the use of floating mink-rafts. The three hypotheses correspond to different contexts and a critical analysis will allow to adjust the choice according to the future priorities.
