Y a-t-il une place pour la phytothérapie dans la prévention des maladies cardiovasculaires ?

Abstract : For some time, patients seek complementary approaches, such as the use of natural substances, including in case of metabolic and cardiovascular diseases. Faced with this enthusiasm for the "natural", the pharmacist is increasingly asked for his advice. He must be able to have a maximum of arguments to answer more closely to the needs of patients. He must ensure the scientific relevance of his advice, and of course the quality and safety of products referenced in the pharmacy. We can rejoice to see more and more rigorous scientific publications on medicinal plants. Herbal medicine supported by clinical studies and based on evidence (with reference to evidence-based medicine) has the potential to figure in clinical practice if it is shown that the plant have a valid indication. Garlic (Allium sativum L.), the olive leaf (Olea europaea L.), hawthorn (Crataegus oxyacantha L.), ispaghula (Plantago ovata Forsk.), artichoke (Cynara scolymus L .) and fenugreek (Trigonella foenum-graecum L.), among others, will be addressed in this work.
