Prise en compte du VGM, de la CCMH et de la ferritinémie dans le diagnostic des anémies ferriprives pendant la grossesse : étude descriptive à la maternité Lariboisière, Paris

Abstract : Consideration of MCV, MCHC and ferritin in diagnosis of iron deficiency anemia Descriptive study in maternity Lariboisière, Paris Iron deficiency anemia affects 20% of pregnant women in developed countries and 40-50% of pregnant migrant women from developing countries. However, in France, recommendations remain unclear about diagnosis of these anemias. From this study, we considered how the professionals currently diagnose these anemias in a maternity where several patients have risk factors for iron deficiency. The results show that professionals would take little account of MCV and MCHC in diagnosis of iron deficiency anemia. Treatment of iron would be prescribed even when the anemia is normocytic and normochromic. The study shows that ferritin is not used much, while it would confirm or deny an iron deficiency when no parameter of the CBC allows a diagnosis. In view of these results, the establishment of a protocol seems necessary for consistent diagnosis and adapted cares of these iron-deficiency anemia.
