Éducation et enseignement sous le régime de Vichy, 1940-1944

Abstract : On 22 June 1940, the armistice was signed at Rethondes: Marshal Petain became chief of the French state. Government services moved to Vichy. The militarily defeated France entered the four years long French Occupation Period. Four years during which the Vichy regime will publish laws, circulars and decrees aimed at radically changing the educational system, glorifying Marshal Pétain and make teachers responsible for the defeat. The first part of my master's thesis deals with the study of the establishment of a repressive system, hostile to public school as it had been built under the Third Republic. The second part of this thesis consists of a reasoning on the teaching of history and an analyzed teaching sequence in conjunction with the theme of this thesis.
