Ce carcan qui m'aide à grandir : les impacts psychocorporels du corset Garchois chez un enfant polyhandicapé

Abstract : Nathan is an 11 and a half‐years old boy diagnosed with profound intellectual and multiple disabilities. He suffers from scoliosis. So as to limit the deformation (of his spine), he is forced to wear a Garchois corset all day long, every day. Besides the orthopaedic characteristics of this device, other aspects need to be considered. Within the framework of this thesis, I have therefore reflected on the psycho‐physical impacts of the corset. After having explained the paradox of the latter, this thesis highlights how the psychomotor therapist can work with Nathan. Finally it emphasises the psycho‐physical problematic linked to the corset.
