Analyse et quantification des impuretés responsables des odeurs de l’iso-pentane

Abstract : The iso-pentane is a branched alkane used as a propellant in the cosmetics industry. All ingredients in the product composition for the para-pharmacy and perfumery are strictly controlled. Particularly sensitive criteria for the smell. It is therefore important to identify pollutants that could bring the smell. Our nose is an organ particularly well adapted but the smell remains a feature elusive : difficult to describe the smell, its complexity quantification. In addition, psychological and cultural factors often change our perception of smell. Analytical chemistry provides a wide range of techniques to identify and quantify the molecules. Most of them are well known but their near-absence leads us to other questions : the origin of the smell, evolution in time of iso-pentane, triggering the development process of the smell.
