L'aphas'ile : batterie d'évaluation de l'aphasie à la Réunion : création, normalisation, validation

Abstract : Our work has been to create and implement our “Alphas’ île” project, as well as to define accurate standards for the battery of aphasiological tests intended to evaluate the residual language of adults native of Reunion and aged 15 to 80. The sociological context in Reunion is particular, making it tricky to evaluate this residual language : for one thing people there are of varied origins and have mixed-thus being bilingual-, and also 22% of the population is affected by illiteracy. We have been able to standardize the battery thanks to 200 volunteers of Reunion. The battery has proved adequate, alive to their answers, with a satisfactory inner coherence, enabling an accurate assessment of the troubles. Moreover, this study has underlined the major impact of illiteracy on cognitive abilities-specially when speech is affected.
