Compréhension de texte chez l'adolescent déficient intellectuel : élaboration d'un matériel de rééducation

Abstract : Current data consider reading comprehension as posing a real difficulty to intellectually challenged adolescents and yet, to the best of our knowledge, there does not seem to be any specific material to help them improve their reading comprehension skills. The purpose of this study is the development of a specific material that will take into account their actual language skills as well as their areas of interest and that will try to fit their needs in the best possible way. Our material was first designed and then tested on a group of 14 intellectually-disabled adolescents aged 13 to 18. This material will provide speech therapists with reading comprehension tools to be used with intellectually-challenged adolescents. Our methodological reflections open up new prospects for developing and testing such materials.
