La recherche de l’innovation marketing dans les dispositifs médicaux de sécurité contre les accidents d’exposition au sang : connaître le marché local pour mieux y répondre

Abstract : Accidental Blood Exposures are the most frequent accidents in healthcare facilities. In 2010, it is estimated at 28,000 the number of ABE in France and 80% of them were percutaneous injuries, mainly needlestick injuries. The principal consequences of these AESE are viral infections and, in practice, the most feared are HIV, HBV and HCV. The healthcare industries specialized in medical technologies have a predominant role to play in the prevention on these AES. In 2011, BD have launched on the market a new generation safety peripheral intraveinous catheter, the BD Insyte™ Autoguard™ Blood Control. Given the growth of peripheral intravenous catheter on the market, and with a policy of quality, safety and innovation, BD conducted a worlwide VoC. This process was run jointly between marketing departments and R&D departments with a core U.S. team and local teams to develop an increasingly innovative product, providing more safety against ABE and answer healthcare workers’ needs. With economical and regulatory contraints and the fierce competitive landscape, local Marketing departments need to develop and put in place a strategy according to its country to increase market shares.
