L'agroforesterie comme réponse aux enjeux de qualité de l'eau en Île de France : éléments pour un travail concerté entre agriculteurs et gestionnaires

Abstract : In France, water treatment against agricultural pollutants has to be done frequently before human consumption. Agroforestry can limit diffuse pollutions of water bodies by agricultural activities. To mix trees and crops in the same area can limit the leakage of nutrient and allow the use of pesticides. This report provides advices to develop agroforestry in response to the issues of water quality in "région Île de France"; especially on 4 water catchments. Agroforestry, as an innovation, is not accepted by all farmers. A study was conducted to understand farmers expectation related to this method. Tools to develop agroforestry with farmers have been provided. Survey work was conducted with local organizations to observe how they are able to develop agroforestry with Île de France farmers. Impact of agriculture practices on water quality seems to be a very sensitive subject in this area. Key points have been identified to enroll a large number of farmers in water protection programs.
