Survenue et aggravation des pneumonies aiguës communautaires suite à la prise d’anti-inflammatoires non stéroïdiens en ambulatoire

Abstract : Aim: To identify the correlation between NSAIDs intake and occurrence or complication of CAP. Methods: A retrospective study included, on the one hand, all cases registered in the French pharmacovigilance database who presented a CAP or a complicated CAP following NSAIDs intake. On the other hand, folders of patients who were hospitalized at George Pompidou Hospital for a CAP or a complicated CAP, in 2012, were analyzed in order to find a context of use of prehospital NSAIDs, if any. Main results: Of 93 cases in the French database, 5 were classified as probable cases, 85 as possible cases and 3 as unlikely cases. A chi-squared test revealed a correlation between the ibuprofen treatment’s duration and the time to onset of the disease (p<0,001). Conclusion: This study showed a strong correlation between the NSAID treatment duration and the time to onset of the CAP or the complicated CAP. Although it is not possible to conclude whether NSAIDs intake in outpatients’ treatment would play a role in the occurrence of CAP or its complication, these results support the assumption that NSAIDs’ use could mask the symptoms and delay the management of the CAP.
