Master Thesis

Un atelier de transformation collectif sur le Pays des vallons de Vilaine ?

Abstract : This master thesis is about a study towards farmers from the south of Rennes (Pays des vallons de Vilaine) who sell their products directly to the consumer or with one intermediary. It aims at determining if they are interested in creating a common food processing plant, which is considered as a way to develop alternative food networks. 16 farmers declared they were interested in a plant where they could carve and process meat, with a total of 50t of carcass per year. However, at a meeting, they have decided not to create such a plant. This master thesis is dedicated to understand why they have taken such a decision, and suggests it is because numerous service providers already exist not very far from their farms, because other producers have similar projects which does not necessitate a strong involvement from the producers, and also because of a little geographical and organized (similarity and membership) proximity between them.
