Abstract : Introduction: 500 general practitioners in the Gironde were interviewed by telephone current May-June 2014 as part of a descriptive cross-sectional study randomized. The main objective is the study is to measure the prevalence of external cardiac defibrillators in GP’s office. Secondarily to quantify the number of cardiac arrest in office and visit. Method: Telephone survey of 500 general practitioners in Gironde made current May-June 2014. The main objective is to measure the prevalence of external cardiac defibrillators in GP’s offices. Secondarily to quantify the number of cardiac arrest in office and at home. Results: 3.6% of GPs are equipped with an external defibrillator (18/500). They are mostly men (14/18) installed for over 20 years (9/14). 3 doctors with a defibrillator had had a cardiac arrest in office (3/18). 59 out of 500 doctors have had a cardiac arrest in office as primo involved in their careers. 45.2% (226/500) have had at least one no matter the location. Conclusion: The presence of a defibrillator in medical practices is not, at present, an obligation. The prevalence of cardiac arrests in the cabinet is rare but a doctor out of two had at least one in his career. Therefore, the possession of this material will be discussed and will depend on the vision of each physician in managing cardiac arrest.
