Mise en place des bases d'un système de pharmacovigilance dans un pays à ressources limitées : exemple de la République Dominicaine

Abstract : The aim of this thesis was to describe pharmacovigilance and to present the implementation of a pilot pharmacovigilance program in a resource‐poor country. This program includes collection, assessment and codification of adverse drug reactions. The theoretical part covers a general presentation on pharmacovigilance, the methods used, adverse drug reactions and French and international drug monitoring organization. The pilot study was conducted in a semi-public hospital of Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. One hundred and seven adverse drug reaction cases were collected over 13 months. After assessment, 27,1% were serious. According to Naranjo scale, 1,9% of adverse drug reactions were assessed as definite, 48,5% probable and 49,5% possible. Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory and anti-rheumatic agents and antibacterials for systemic use were responsible for around 40% of the reports.
