Abstract : Chemotherapies are responsible for cutaneous side effects, causing pain, aesthetic prejudice, and sometimes resulting in drug disruption and quality of life changes. Methods: Firstly, we studied the repartition of theses cutaneous toxicities caused by cytotoxic agent and targeted therapy on 607 patients treated in a national cancer institute, and their impact on drug disruption. Secondly, within the SKIN TARGET study, we analysed anti-BRAF cutaneous side effects and their impact on quality of life on 32 patients, treated for a metastatic melanoma. Results: The most frequently observed cutaneous side effects were skin reaction (77,3%), hair changes (39%), nail toxicity (38,7%) and palmo-plantar toxicity (32,25%). There were responsible for a definitive drug disruption for 10,4% patients. The most common cutaneous side effects for patients treated with anti-BRAF were verrucous papillomas (79%), hand-foot skin reaction (HFR) (59,4%), photosensitivity (53,1%) and hyperkeratotic perifollicular rash (46,9%). Eight patients (36,4%) reported an important impact on quality of life, mainly due to HFR grade 2, alopecia and pruritus. Conclusion: Chemotherapies cutaneous side effects are frequent and have an impact on treatment course and patients’ quality of life. We shall pay attention to these results and continue our investigations in order to better determine which side effects have an impact on quality of life and better prevent them.
