Proposition de méthodologie pour la conservation des murs anciens en maçonnerie de pierre

Abstract : The study of an old stonework wall requires the use of a method that either successively or simultaneously examines: the composition of the wall (type of stones, nature of joints, presence of metal), the destructive role of certain external agents (water and salts in particular), the conservation of facings (within the scope of renovation works) and finally the durability of the structural capacities. For each of these subjects, the methodology generally follows a similar pattern: observation, quantification, action. Observation is carried out by the project manager, assisted, if possible, by specialist laboratories that take samples and analyse them. Quantification is based on the use of measuring equipment (gauges, sensors) and the modelling of structures (in particular with a view to obtaining an evaluation of load-bearing capacities). Actions involve calling upon various scientific disciplines (chemistry, resistance of materials, geotechnics, etc…) and must take into account the constant innovations taking place in these fields.
