La Guerre Russo-Turque de 1877-78, vue par la presse française et anglaise de l’époque

Abstract : The Russo-Turkish War of 1877-1878 was one of the first conflicts where European newspapers sent special correspondents to the front to report the daily developments happening in those distant lands. This thesis aims the firstly to contribute to the research of the evolution of the institution of war reporters in Europe and of the European press through the daily newspapers and the illustrated press. Our goal is to examine how the Russo-Turkish War has influenced and changed the function of the English and French press and especially the art of the war correspondent. Then we will try to understand how the European press has represented that war, introducing new images or retaining the existing ones concerning Russia, Turkey and the Balkans.
