Les indicateurs de qualité dans les systèmes d'information hospitaliers dans le domaine de la biologie médicale : revue de littérature

Abstract : Background: Health information systems have now been widely established within the hospital management program and aim at improving the quality and security of patient care. To our knowledge, there are currently no parameters available to assess the quality indicators of health information systems' impact on biomedical circuits. The aim of this paper is to present a review of literature regarding health information systems in order to identify indicators to assess their impact on laboratory processes and laboratory information systems. Methods: The PubMed database was searched between November 2014 and January 2015, in order to select studies published prior to this date. Results: Seventy-one articles were retrieved that were published between 1981 and 2013 and permitted us to identify ten main indicators, categorized into four groups; delay indicators, quality indicators, management indicators and cost indicators. Conclusion: Although for some indicators a main tendency will produce reduction in the error rate, or reduction in turnaround time, the impact of information systems on biological circuits appears to vary depending on the individual study. Moreover, there seems to be a real desire to improve the information systems in order to meet the needs of users as well as improve the health care services. Further studies are required regarding health information systems in order to identify indicators to assess their impact on laboratory processes and laboratory information systems.
