La place des femmes chez les sapeurs-pompiers de l'Aube

Abstract : In the Middle Ages, militias were organized to warn the fire risks of the various buildings which were precarious. They were in reality the first Fire brigade. Originally, the “Fireman” is actually “the one who manages the pump”. Various statuses (volunteer, professional, militaries) are combined under the same uniform, always worn by passion. The fireman job is considered difficult and sporty, historically anchored in the public opinion as a male profession. However, for about twenty years, new arrivals have made their appearance: women. How do they live to be in men’s world? Are male or female firemen different? How are female firemen seen? How do they feel? Concretely, what is their place? To try to approach this question, having studied texts dealing with this subject more or less directly, then developed my initiative of research, we shall analyse the answers obtained from the conversations with various men and women fireman of the Departmental Service of Fire and Help of the department of the Aube.
