Comparaison qualitative de l'obturation canalaire en technique combinée avec deux instrumentations différentes : acier versus nickel-titane

Abstract : Objective: To compare the area occupied by gutta-percha, cement and microscopic voids in root canals obturated by a partial hybrid technique with two groups of instruments (finger spreader and compactor). Material and method: 40 teeth were prepared with the One Shape® instrument then separated into two groups. 20 teeth filled with instruments in stainless-steel (FingerSpreader®/GuttaCondensor®), and 20 filled with instruments in NiTi (RevoSpreader®/RevoCondensor®). Once included in the resin, teeth were cut horizontally at 1,5 - 1,8 and 3 mm from the apex. Photomicrographs of sections were analyzed and the amount of filling materials and voids were measured. Means were calculated and compared with a Student test. Results: Statistical studies have concluded that stainless steel instruments permitted a very significantly better filling ratio (p=0.0015) of gutta percha than the nickel-titanium instruments.
