Mise en place d'un protocole pour découvrir l'architecture des anciens sites Maya basé sur les images LiDAR : modèles d'utilisation du paysage dans la forêt Maya

Abstract : LiDAR was seen as a revolution at the beginning in the world of Maya archeology as the images revealed many undiscovered elements because the surveys in this part of the globe are much more complicated due to the dense vegetation. However, LiDAR images are not a magic wand because first, an appropriate visualization needs to be made (Bonemap, 2013) and then, field surveys still need to be done. LiDAR images are just a tool to improve and facilitate the surveys. The establishment of a protocol that combine new technologies _ LiDAR, GPS and GIS – and classic methods – field logs – enable to optimize the field survey in the environnement of the Maya rainforest as well as the data management and to improve the data processing that follows. The field validation proved how efficient the protocol was.
