Représentations sociales des pratiques communicatives de familles en contexte de surdité

Abstract : This paper is about the social representations of the communication practices within families in the context of deafness. We began by analysing the relevant current literature on choices of communication practices within families dealing with deafness; the aforementioned practices are influenced by social representations of deafness, the choice of language, and bilingualism. During our research, we had several conversations with two families, each living in a different situation involving deafness, who have agreed to explain to us their communication practices. Even if the result of this paper cannot be generalised to all the families with a deaf context, it still may be helpful for future research on this topic.
