Évaluation de l'efficacité d'une technique d'hyperventilation contrôlée dans le traitement de la migraine de l'adulte : étude préliminaire

Abstract : Migraine is a disease with significant public health challenge, due to its high prevalence and its disabling character. Currently, its medical management remains in some cases more or less satisfactory. From a clinical observation, controlled hyperventilation cycles could stop migraine attacks. The objective of this preliminary study is to evaluate the efficacy of a controlled hyperventilation technique on the migraine attack. As a non-comparative single-center longitudinal study was performed. The results showed significantly that patients experience an efficiency (58.3%) of the technique during their migraine attack. In addition, 92.1% of satisfied patients have stopped a migraine attack with it, the use of drug treatment of the crisis has decreased in 95.2% of cases, the prophylactic treatment decreased by 23.8 %, frequency and pain at the height were also down. This preliminary study shows that the use of a controlled hyperventilation could be a therapeutic tool in the treatment of migraine disease. Also, clinical studies could validate the use of this technique in the medical arsenal of migraine.
