Lecture labiale de l'adulte devenu sourd : impact d'un entraînement de l'attention et du calepin visuo-spatial

Abstract : Several studies have shown that attention and visuospatial sketchpad skills are correlated with lip-reading skills. Four patients were recruited for this study. We compared their progress during a conventional practice of lip-reading in rehabilitation and during a conventional practice of lip-reading in rehabilitation associated with a training of attention and visuospatial sketchpad. Overall, our study shows a significant increase of lipreading skills after the training. Attention and visuospatial sketchpad abilities improved. Even if these results need to be qualified, we have demonstrated the importance of integrating attention and working memory in the rehabilitation process of late-deafened adults, and especially for lip-reading.
