Évaluation et rééducation de la mémoire de travail après chirurgie éveillée de gliomes infiltrants

Abstract : Low-grade gliomas and their treatments lead to cognitive impairments that can only be identified thorough examination performed by speech-language pathologists or neuropsychologists. Working memory, in particular, is a cognitive function often impaired in patients after awake brain surgery for low-grade gliomas. Because evaluation and rehabilitation practices are very heterogeneous, we have decided to investigate some assessment tools for the working memery as well as material for its cognitive rehabilitation. To achieve this, we carried out an assessment on 10 patients with the help of tools based on Baddeley’s model and compared the results to those of 19 matched controls. The rehabilitation material was investigated through a preliminary single-blind study including 6 patients. Assessment tools evidence working memory impairments which demonstrate the sensitivity of some of them. Furthermore, the rehabilitation program has revealed its efficiency.
