Élaboration, standardisation et étalonnage d'un test de dépistage des troubles du langage écrit en 6ème

Abstract : Many children enter the sixth grade with poor reading and spelling core abilities, which may hinder their whole secondary education. The present study aims at designing, standardizing and calibrating a quick screening test for school physicians to detect these impaired children and advise them towards possible further investigations. This tool provides an extension to the EDA assessment battery. Therefore, one dictation and two reading tasks were created. Their administration and rating procedures were set up. Then these tests were submitted to a sample of forty-six unselected sixth grade children. The measures collected were processed and set as the normative data resulting from this starting calibration. The children were also administered a typical orthographic reference test. Data analysis shows that the two reading tests created lead to close and correlated performances, allowing them to be included in the same battery. However, the moderate correlation between reading comprehension scores suggests to further adjust these parts. The dictation test designed enables to identify most of the weakest children under study and its validity is confirmed through comparable and correlated scores to the usual orthographic reference test. Furthermore, two impaired children were detected with the three tests developed, thus confirming their interest.
