Les anticoagulants oraux directs : évaluation des connaissances théoriques et pratiques acquises par les étudiants en pharmacie au cours de leur cursus

Abstract : Direct oral anticoagulants (DOAC) recently appeared on the market and they show many advantages compared to vitamin K antagonists. The absence of dosage adjustment according to biological monitoring guarantees a better treatment adherence. A rigorous respect of Marketing Authorisation Application and precautions for use is essential because of the risk of bleeding associated with these drugs. Increased vigilance is required for elderly patients, patients with low body weights or with renal failure. These factors increase the effects of direct oral anticoagulants, a dosage adjustment or a close monitoring of patients is then necessary. Drugs interactions must also be sought. The pharmacist has a major part to play in public health and his knowledge about DOAC must be infallible in order to limit iatrogenesis and to secure dispensing of medicines. A survey about DOAC has been developed during this work and allowed us to assess the theoretical knowledge and practical skills (“know-how”) of pharmacy students from Grenoble University. 94 students out of 117 answered the survey. A summary note about DOAC was created and has been distributed to students in order to measure changes in knowledge. Although the impact of this training is significant, the success rates to the survey could be widely improved. Some deficiencies are of concern and affirm the need to adapt academic education of students.
