Le paysage des Grands ensembles : des théories urbaines aux pratiques habitantes. Cas de la Cité Modèle à Bruxelles, de 1958 à 2015

Abstract : This report presents the "Grands Ensembles", large multi storey housing estate, from their origin to their rehabilitation, in order to evaluate the concordance between the urban theories and the resident uses. The Grands Ensembles seems note an utopie, at the same time social and architectural in the Europeen Union from the fifties to the seventies. Lead by Le Corbusier, these new urban models which liberate the ground thanks to buildings on stilts, give significance to free areas. But this quantitative significance haven't been translated during modern period to qualitative way. At the time of their renovation, a new actor is going to change the situation : the landscape architect designs the sustainable city. Actually these two theories put into practice spatially in the Cité Modèle, study area of the report. The resident uses of the Cité are finaly presented from interviews made in situ.
