Étude rétrospective monocentrique observant à long terme l'évolution de l'intensité de la douleur après emploi du Qutenza® dans les douleurs neuropathiques

Abstract : Neuropathic pains are the most difficult pains to treat. Antiepileptic and antidepressant medicinal treatments decrease significantly these localized pains, but not totally. A patch based on capsaicin with a high-concentration (8 %) is indicated: Qutenza®. The objective is to estimate the evolution of the neuropathic pains evolution following the use of Qutenza®. This study was realized in a pain relief center within a cancer Institute during 40 months. The analysis was retrospective, estimating the pain by gradual scale before treatment on the patient’s records, then by telephone with questionnaire, few months after treatment. Qutenza® has been applied with many cares on the painful zone. This process has been repeated every 3 months to the pain clinic under cold anesthesia. Our sample contained 37 patients from 21 to 83 years old (54 % of women and 46 % of men). Twelve have been lost sight. Every patient received from 1 to! 5 cures of Qutenza®. The average is 2,3 cures. 17 patients had presented or presented a cancer. The indications were the neuropathic localized peripheral pains: post-surgical, post-traumatic, post chemotherapy, algodystrophic, and post zoster. After the 1st cure and few months after the last cure, the pain decreased significantly for, respectively 60 % and 76 % of the patients. In conclusion, majority of patients taken in charge for neuropathic pains has been relieved after use of Qutenza®.
