Comment les femmes se représentent-elles leur vécu de la sexualité, avant et au cours d'un parcours d'aide médicale à la procréation ?

Abstract : Objective Sexuality, specific to each people in its exercise and (its) purpose (s), can find a reason to not be related to any procreative purpose due to the existence of a specific erotic function for humans. The blooming of the couple in her sexuality is essential for its construction and balance. But in medically assisted procreation (MAP), sex and supporting arrangements may disturb the couples' sexuality. At a time where the usage of MAP is increasing, we investigated the changes in women's sexuality in MAP. This study objective was to investigate the representation that women's experience of their sexuality before and during a MAP process. A secondary objective was to investigate the factors identified by women as responsible for the evolution of their sexuality. Methods An anonymous self-answered questionnaires was distributed in three MAP centers of Ile de France. It targeted women in MAP process (of any type) with no age limit. Results and conclusion The analysis of 130 questionnaires have shown that changes in sexuality are common in MAP but underestimated by women. The changes are more often negative than positive; and women attribute these changes to hormone treatment and/or expecting the baby more than medical examinations. The impact of these changes on the experience of their sexuality would be more limited than our external perspective lets us imagine. Some complementary study may be necessary to explore further this topic.
