Intérêt des éducateurs fonctionnels dans la correction des classes III en denture temporaire et en denture mixte.

Abstract : Class III malocclusions require an early treatment aiming at re-establishing a proper incisor occlusion, literalities’ movements and re-standardizing facial growth as soon as possible. Prevention’s main goal in temporary denture - and interception in mixed denture - is to fix or minimize the consequences of dysmorphoses on the occlusion and the harmonious growth of bone bases. The use of removable devices is now being suggested to young children in order to re-establish nasal ventilation, normalize functions and growth. These devices, known as a functional educator, aim at generating conditions required for an ideal functional occlusion, suited to each patient. Functional education encompasses of all disrupted functions. To assess the effects of these devices on class III interception, we completed a clinic and cephalometric study on two patient groups, the first one including eleven children with temporary denture, the second one counting fourteen children with mixed denture. This study shows the efficiency brought by an early wearing of functional education splints on Class III malocclusion.
