Étude de l’effet de quatre composés contenant du miel sur deux bactéries cariogènes : streptococcus mutans et lactobacillus rhamnosus

Abstract : Honey posseses antibacterial and healing properties recognized since ancient times. It owns many clinical benefits, which makes it increasingly used in current medicine. Although it contains high concentration of sugars (primarily glucose and fructose) some honeys have shown an interesting in vitro, inhibitory effect on cariogenic bacteria. The objective of our study was to evaluate the effect of four compounds containing honey on two bacteria implicated in tooth decay: Streptococcus mutans and Lactobacillus rhamnosus. For that, we tested, in vitro, the growth inhibition of these different formulas (dilution method), and the inhibition of adhesion (mono species biofilm method on glass surface) on these two bacteria. The results showed that one of the four formulas exhibited an inhibitory effect on both, growth and adhesion of Streptococcus mutans. But more studies are needed to confirm these results.
