Élaboration et intérêt d'un protocole de rééducation des troubles de la communication non verbale en groupe chez des patients traumatisés crâniens

Abstract : Traumatic brain injured patients often suffer from non verbal communication disorders linked to language, cognitive processing and behavioural disorders. The consequences of these impairments are visible in social and family intercourses, and few exercises exist. Our research has elaborated some rehabilitation activities for non verbal communication, to be used with traumatic brain injured patients, with a view to improving their expression and understanding, as well as their feeling of well- being in communication intercourses. With these tools, we created a rehabilitation group therapy of 4 adults (26-48 years old) with traumatic brain injury, suffering from non verbal communication disorders. The 13 sessions were based on looking, proxemy, facial expressions and gestures. The quantitative analysis has shown that the amount of gestures has increased, especially the communicative ones. A survey on self-esteem in communication in! tercourses has highlighted benefits for the patients feeling in dual interactions, butlittle evolution with non verbal communication self- esteem. These outcomes suggest that a specific non verbal communication rehabilitation with traumatic brain injured patients is useful and helps to improve communication skills as a whole.
