Optimisation de la gestion des prairies de fauche dans le canton de Vaud (Suisse), dans un contexte de sécheresses estivales

Abstract : The yield and quality of sixteen and twelve hay meadows was followed in spring 2014 and 2015 respectively, in a dairy farms network in the canton of Vaud (Switzerland). A link between the sum of temperature during spring and the production and nutritional value of the meadows was investigated. It aimed to optimize the production and quality of the forage by using sum of temperature values. A correlation between the grassland yield and the sum of temperature was highlighted both years. But no relation was found between the forage quality and the spring sum of temperature because of a high year effect. Nevertheless, an early first cut was proved to enhance the forage quality, of the first cut but also of the first regrowth cut. The yield of the two first cuts was increased by a late first cut. Consequently, an optimum was achieved, in spring 2015, for a first cut in the middle of may, when meadows showed an ear emergence phenological stage.
