Recherche de Scardovia Wiggsiae dans la carie précoce de l’enfance : étude expérimentale

Abstract : The purpose of this work was to investigate the presence of Scardovia wiggsiae, a bacteria associated with the Early Childhood Caries (ECC), in a population of 25 children between 27 to 71 months, affected by ECC, in order to confirm the link between this species and the disease. Carious tissues samples have been cultured on specific medium. Identification was made by both biochemichal (Galerie Rapid 32A) and molecular methods (DNA extraction, PCR with specific primers). No Scardovia wiggsiae strain have been found. The explanation could be a real absence of this bacteria in the samples, or the need for further identification methods like sequencing some isolated strains.
