L'accouchement sous le secret‎ : d'hier à demain, d'ici et d'ailleurs

Abstract : The history of the birth in secret, commonly called « delivery under the name of X », is long and eventful. For several tens of century, it has only been a matter of infanticides and wild abandonments. The conviction and punishment of the infanticide, generated a major increase of abandons, those beeing the only means of birth control. To overcome this, various solutions have been proposed, leading slowly and finally, in France, to the current legislation. This one, though accepted by society, nevertheless continues to debate. It seems that the balance between the respect of the mother's rights and the respect of the child's rights is not satistisfying. However this view is not shared by everyone, defenders of delivery under the secrecy also have strong arguments. The national debate is also raised to an european level, where practices and legislation differ. Indeed, a few countries are getting doser with our laws whereas many others are far away from that. However, it appears that the european authorities are standing in favor of our practices which tend to respect the european convention of human rights.
