Évaluation du Document d'Objectifs du site Natura 2000 de la baie de Saint-Brieuc

Abstract : Located on the north of Brittany, in the middle of the Côtes d’Armor department, the Natura 2000 site of Saint-Brieuc bay represents an area of 4 554 ha. It is composed of one ZSC, two ZPS and includes a nature reserve. Written in 2008, the Objectives Report (OR) needs today a revision, especially because of its expansion to marine areas in 2010. In this context the site’s manager, Saint-Brieuc community, decided to assess the OR and to evaluate associated actions. Even if the OR assessment methodology is not clearly defined at the national scale, several Natura 2000 sites have already used it, especially in Brittany. Based on these studies, this work permitted to make an assessment of the conservation state of community interest species and habitats. If the realization’s level is quite satisfactory (74% of the actions completely, almost entirely or currently realized), some parts, issues and species are still missing. This permitted to make propositions for the next OR revision. The manager must define a new objectives organization consistent with the actions already realized. These accurate objectives must integrate monitoring and assessment indicators, and detailed budgets for each action. The environmental projects in progress, such as the green and blue belt network and the integrated management of the coast area, will also have to be taken into account in the next OR.
