Pour l’invention d’une ville créole et tropicale, l’hybridité moteur de la dynamique urbaine. Analyse de trois quartiers réunionnais en mutation : « identité urbaine » de l’Éperon, de Savannah et de la Zac 1

Abstract : Since the 1970’s, Reunion Island deals with a tremendous modernisation, questioning two centuries of traditionals ways of life in neighborhoods. These upheavals are largely generated by a succession of urban policies for the past 30 years and resulted from a strong bias concerning programmes for combating substandard housing.
While Reunion’s towns get modernized, under the occidentalisation of there territorial and urban forms, an issue faces the townplaners and politics today : we notice a relative durability of practices, uses and space-relations, results of history and marks of cultural and ethnic mix, Plantation society and intrinsic hybridization in the construction of Reunion’s society. A social unreste seems to have settled down in renovated districts, because the developments proposed by the townplaners and politics do not coincide with ways of life, practices and symbolics of Reunion’s inhabitants and the reality they deal with today.
This research reports actors’s construction of space-relations and how urban policies modify these representations in three priority neighborhoods. These representations are emphasized the definition of Reunion’s town as creole, through the importance of hybridization and adaptation. Both fundamental pillars of the territorial dynamics. We propose here a new vision of living spaces and an evaluation of urban policies, through a sensible approach of urban spaces and to try to define identity of « Reunion’s creole neighborhoods » of 2015.
