Étude observationnelle de l’adhésion aux différentes stratégies de prévention après une première tentative de suicide prise en charge au Centre Hospitalier Gabriel Martin de Saint-Paul de la Réunion

Abstract : Goals: The main goal of the study was to compare the rate of people joining the first consultation of psychotherapeutic monitoring according to the different modalities offered (giving them our contacts, planning an appointment in a psychological medico center CMP or planning an appointment « pericritique ») after a first hospitalized suicide attempt. One of the secondary goals, was to evaluate the impact of the effectiveness of this first consultation, on the rate of recidivism. Material and methods: It’s an observational, retrospective file study, including patients over 16 years old at the time of admission, having committed a first suicide attempt then hospitalized, who went through the CAP West (Psychiatric reception center of reference for the Western Reunion territory) at the Gabriel Martin hospital, in Saint Paul, Reunion in 2013. The intervention was suggested during a psychotherapeutic appointment, in an ambulatory at the CAP West exit. Our main opinion criteria, was the attendance to the first follow up consultation. Results: On the 220 patients that were initially included, 50 were excluded, 170 have been studied. We observed 5.7% of attendance to get in touch with them, 70.6% to organize an appointment in CMP and 78.3% for the « pericritique » appointment. There was a significant difference for each of the two latter modalities compared with the first one p< 0.001. There was no significant difference concerning the impact on the rate of recidivism according to their attendance (8.6% if they were present against 7.9%). Conclusion: The fact of booking an appointment, and to have it followed through by the same health care appointee seemed to be the two main determinants of establishing a follow up. Those results would have to be confirmed by a randomized study.
