Améliorer la compréhension orale en anglais : la formation hybride peut-elle être une réponse ?

Abstract : Our observations of learners’ poor performance in listening comprehension suggested intensive work on prerequisites and necessary competences was needed in order to reach the course objectives based on the Common European Framework for Language Learning. This led us to examine the benefits of integrating a distant mode for the acquisition of listening strategies. Therefore, this thesis presents the design and implementation of a blended learning environment with students in 5e at Collège Ernest Perrier de La Bathie in Ugine. Effects on learners’ performance and perceptions were analysed using data collected with a pre-test and a post-test which assessed learners’ listening strategies, individual interviews with a sample of learners, and an online feedback questionnaire. Results suggest that the blended language learning environment supported the development of some sort of listening strategies. Furthermore, the learners’ discourse analysis reveals that the distant mode was well-received and offers useful pedagogical indications for the future.
