La pédagogie différenciée : quel impact sur la réussite d'un élève ?

Abstract : "No two students progress at the same rate." This is the first statement drawn from Burns' seven statements, which propose seven behavioural differences observed among students placed in a classroom setting or learning situation. Effectively, each student posseses his or her own outlook on the world, which may vary depending on diverse factors. This is the basic principle behind differentiated instruction. As all students have specific needs, the teacher should be able to figure out what they are and adapt accordingly in order to guide each student during the course of his or her studies. Nevertheless, there are differing opinions with respect to these methods, and the question persists in order to better understand the impact that differentiated instruction may have on students' success. This work presents the views of specialists in didactics and differentiated instruction as well as several experiments of differentiated instructional methods implemented at the junior highschool level.
