Approche actionnelle et cours d’action : un regard transdisciplinaire sur la question de la timidité en classe de langue

Abstract : Imagine a Modern Language class in which students do not talk nor participate. Then, imagine a Physical Education session in which students do not take part in any sports activities. How odd this may seem! Even though active implication in class seems to be obvious for most of us, it turns out to be quite difficult to grasp for some students, especially shy ones. How can this shyness be taken into account at a time when institutional recommendations in modern language teaching are supported by the action-oriented approach which encourages students to be engage in class? Could exercice be a way to disinhibit shy students? In order to consider the effect of engaging into action shy students, this dissertation will establish a comparison between the teaching methods applied in language learning and those used for Physical Education, a core subject for putting students into action.
