Étude POSTA : Tome II : les médecins généralistes face au suicide en Martinique

Abstract : Issue: recommendations for suicidal crisis emphasize multidisciplinary work between ambulatory and hospital sector, it studied by the POSTA study. Knowledge about the work of GPs on suicide in Martinique are insufficient, while their role is major. Objectives: complete knowledge on the scale of Martinique, on supported performed in general practice in order to propose areas for improvement to participate improving the care and prevention of recurrence. Method: development and analysis of individual interviews with general practitioners of patients included in the study POSTA Martinique. Results: Suicide is rare in the daily practice of GPs, although present over the years. Doctors are often in trouble with the suicidal crisis, lack of expertise and time required, and problems in access to specialist advice. The evaluation of the suicide risk is often rough. The coordination and training requests are very pronounced. Glimpsed improvement axes are the initial training and continuing intensification and easier access to specialized psychiatric opinion. This will be primarily through existing communication networks. Conclusion: Creating a help plug on the referral in suicidal crisis to general practitioners in Martinique, which includes expert advice for phone number and an estimation grid how dangerous a passage the suicidal act. As recommended by the National Observatory.
