Cartographie du manteau neigeux saisonnier dans l’Himalaya népalais par télédétection optique (bassin de la Koshi)

Abstract : This work comes under the PRESHINE project launched in 2013 by the French National Research Agency (ANR) and applied in Nepal. The purpose of this TFE is to create a snow maps database (Snow Cover Area) for a period of 17 years, from 1998 to June 2015 on the watershed of the Koshi river (57,000 km²). These data will be used mainly to calibrate or validate hydrological models of the project members. The input data are snow maps from optical satellite MODIS (daily and 8 days synthesis) and daily snow maps produced by the algorithm SCoTA (CESBIO - CNES) for the VGT sensor. The objective of this work is to add VGT data over two years (1998-2000) to a MODIS database of 15 years (2000-2015). This led us to do a sensitivity analysis between VGT and MODIS sensors to achieve consistency between the VGT and MODIS snow products. The daily snow products from SCoTA for VGT are poorly correlated to MOD10A1 outputs. The use of cloud mask on snow cards VGT demonstrated significant improvement for VGT products in terms of consistency with MODIS. Finally, the last part of the thesis describes a temporal analysis of the snow database, created from the two sensors.
