Évaluation multiparamétrique de la dysarthrie dans la maladie de Friedreich

Abstract : In order to conduct a preliminary multi-parameter analysis of dysarthria in Friedrich’s disease, we have recorded and evaluated twenty-six adults (10 women and 16 men, mean age 36.08 ±12,21) with Freidreich’s disease. They were separated in two groups depending on the severity of the ataxia (result <20 and >20 /40 on the SARA scale). The evaluation concerned praxis, intelligibility, self-evaluation of the voice handicap as well as segmental features of speech (in 22 patients). The perceptual results have especially highlighted voicing errors, omissions of phonemes and vocal distortions. Acoustic results partly confirm perceptual results. The results to some of the tests were correlated to the degree of ataxic and dysarthria severity as well as to the length of illness. We also observed a significant difference for certain tasks between the two groups of patients. This preliminary study on a group of patients presenting with alterations of speech ranging from minimal to severe provides a first description of the aforementioned alterations as well as a link between the rating scales of dysarthria and ataxia and the clinical speech evaluation tools. Re-evaluation one year later will allow to measure the evolution of the indicators.
