Soumission chimique : bilan de quatre années d’admissions au Centre d'Accueil en Urgence des Victimes d'Agressions (CAUVA) du CHU de Bordeaux

Abstract : Introduction : The term of « drug facilitated crimes » (DFCs) appeared in the 80’s and is defined by criminal acts carried out by means of administering covertly a psychotropic substance to a person. Victims have a tendency to not manifest themselves because of amnesia. Objective : The objective of this study was to conduct a census and make a description of DFC’s cases reported at the assault victims emergency center located in Bordeaux University Hospital between the 01/01/2011 and the 12/31/2014. Methods : This study is retrospective and monocentric, based on the victim’s medical record review and on toxicologicals results achieved from TOXGEN laboratory, which is the only laboratory that performed analysis between the 01/01/2011 and the 12/31/2014. Depending on the information, the cases are classified as plausible DFCs, possible DFCs or chemical vulnerability. Results : 305 patients were reported from the emergency center with a suspicion of DFCs during the studied period, 106 of the taken samples where handed over to judicial police officers and 55 were tested. 9 cases of possible DFCs were identified (16,4%) with alcohol and benzodiazepins as the main psychotropic substances. 17 possible cases (30,9%) were isolated and associated with a majority of negatives taken samples. 29 vulnerability chemical cases which display isolated alcohol intoxication or associated with cannabis were highlighted. General practitioners are frequently badly trained on DFCs subject, while it is their duty to take care of these victims. Conclusion : The struggle against DFCs can be combated through a better training of healthcare professionals as well as the set up of prevention campaigns dedicated to potential victims.
